Community Engagement and Collaboration
Bloomington has an opportunity to improve community engagement and collaboration. I believe every community member should have a voice in shaping our city, and it’s our responsibility to listen and act on that feedback. We need a more responsive City Hall that encourages people to share ideas and work together toward a better future for all. Let’s live up to our motto: Bloomington. Tomorrow. Together. Read More
Bolstering Working Class Families
Our local economy must support workers and families and work for everyone. That means lowering the cost of housing and childcare while making strategic investments in infrastructure, education, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Strong unions are essential, and I believe we need a city government that creates opportunities for all. Read More
Protecting our Seniors
Many seniors want to stay in their homes, and we must ensure they have the support to do so. Active outreach programs, including community engagement, meal delivery, and educational initiatives, are essential. For example, educating seniors about property tax relief programs—such as the Senior Citizens Property Tax Deferral Program—can help them manage housing costs. Read More
Championing Sustainability for Bloomington's Future
Sustainability is about balancing people, profit, and the planet, and Bloomington must do better in all areas. As a member of the Bloomington Sustainability Commission, I see first hand how we’ve struggled to meet our goals. For example, despite our target of a 95% reduction in citywide electricity-related greenhouse gas emissions, we have made little progress. Many community partners have noted Bloomington’s reluctance to engage on these issues, and it’s time for change.
I propose Solarizing Bloomington wherever it makes economic sense, expanding community solar programs to reduce costs for residents, and utilizing the Solar for Schools program to control utility expenses. Additionally, integrating battery storage into public buildings will make them more resilient during power outages, ensuring safe shelters in extreme weather events. Utility costs will continue to rise unless we act—together, we can and must meet our climate goals.

Backing our First Responders
Bloomington is home to one of the best police departments in the country, and I fully support keeping it that way. However, our fire department faces challenges in recruiting volunteers, and with SAFER grantseventually disappearing, we need a long-term plan. A lack of adequate fire resources affects insurance rates for the entire community, making this a top priority. Read More
Partnering with Businesses for a Thriving Bloomington
I’m excited about the Bloomington Workforce Steering Committee, a dynamic public-private partnership between the City, regional leaders, and businesses, aimed at creating 12,000 new jobs by 2027. Bloomington must evolve—not only preserving and protecting but also building and growing. I propose a bold path toward a politics of abundance, making Bloomington the best place for everyone to work, live, pray, play, and stay. Read More
Responsible Stewardship of your Tax Dollars
In recent years, property taxes and fees have risen to keep pace with inflation. While Bloomington maintains three AAA bond ratings, we must be mindful of the potential impact of federal and state funding cuts on our community. With economic uncertainties ahead, fiscal responsibility must be our guiding principle in the coming years. Read More
Investing in Education
Strong schools and quality education are the foundation of a thriving community. I support working closely with our school board to ensure students and their families have access to the resources they need and the best possible learning environment for all Bloomington students. Read More
