Meet Aaron

Bloomington has been home to my family for five generations, with the sixth on the way!—something I’m incredibly proud of. After moving back in 2018, my mom and three sons also established their homes here, deepening our connection to this wonderful community. Our love for Bloomington is what inspired me to run for City Council—to serve my neighbors and work toward a stronger future for us all.

As an Army veteran and current member of the Bloomington Sustainability Commission, I took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the laws of Minnesota. The challenges we face at the federal level are concerning, and one of the driving forces behind my campaign is ensuring that democracy and constitutional protections remain strong in our city and state.

With over two decades of experience in corporate America and business ownership, I sought to expand my expertise by enrolling in the Yale School of Management’s MBA for Executives Program, focusing on sustainability. Following my time at Yale, I worked in startups in Silicon Valley, the HVAC industry, and now lead the Minnesota-based nonprofit, the Energy and Environmental Building Alliance.

In addition, I co-founded GreenSmith Builders, LLC, a Minnesota-based sustainable building company. One of our standout projects is PrairiE Lofts, a Net Zero-ready multifamily community in Luverne, MN. Featuring ultra-efficient construction, this award-winning SIP sustainable project was made possible through public-private partnerships involving municipal, state, and traditional lenders, creating market-rate workforce housing. More sustainable communities are already in development.

At home, I live in Bloomington with my wife, Jennifer, along with our three cats and three chickens. In my free time, I enjoy cross-country skiing at Hyland Hills, hockey, hiking, and gardening—all things that make Bloomington such a special place to live!
